In this position you will join a veteran team of engineers, designers and other senior leadership with decades of experience who have shipped ground breaking VR Enterprise experiences, as well as some of the bestselling titles in history including games in the DOOM, QUAKE, Wolfenstein, RAGE, Call of Duty, Counter-Strike and Left 4 Dead series.  Working with partners like Facebook and Qualcomm, ForwardXP is helping to forge new ground in the world of VR training, achieving improved engagement and outcomes over traditional video, text and classroom experiences.


WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Building on our success developing VR training experiences for enterprise partners, we are looking for a dedicated Instructional Designer who can help us take our training projects to the next level. The Instructional Designer will be responsible for working with both external partners and internal developers and artists to design quality training and certification VR experiences. You will be responsible for translating traditional training materials into design and documentation for creating interactive Virtual Reality modules, as well as giving guidance to make changes that take advantage of the opportunities provided by modern VR platforms.

The role combines traditional learning design with game and interactive experience design.  The ideal candidate will have interest or experience in both.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Translate traditional learning materials into interactive experiences
  • Design and document training experiences for VR that apply best practices for interactive learning
  • Pursue a deep understanding of each training subject, becoming the local subject matter expert for the team
  • Gather user feedback and translate it into actionable changes
  • Maintain knowledge of new learning approaches, technology and tools through continuous research
  • Work closely with developers, artists and management to create a clear vision for each training experience
  • Interface with external partners to understand their training needs, and guide them through the process of translating them to VR
REQUIREMENTS
  • At least 5 years of experience in instructional design and developing learning content
  • Experience designing and implementing training programs
  • Ability to collaborate with clients, developers, artists and other designers both inside and outside an organization
  • Ability to work and thrive in a dynamic work environment with multiple simultaneous projects
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Willingness for occasional travel to client locations
  • This role is on-site in our Dallas, TX location
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

BONUS POINTS

  • Experience designing interactive experiences/applications/games
  • Familiarity with Unity or Unreal Engine
  • Prior experience developing training for safety-focused procedures
  • An engineering or electrical training background
